Uma's Dream
Close your eyes sweet Uma puppy and dream that beautiful dream.
Run like the wind, with the other dogs, in midair, like a poem in motion,
like perfection.
Bringing it back, from far away, tail wagging.
Swimming in the cool clear water of eternity, fetching that stick floating on
the surface, Proud dog, good dog.
Jump up, onto the front seat and ride beside me, watching the road roll
past us, smelling the air, sweet and spicy, knowing only what a dog can
know.
Dream that dream where you are free and loved, galloping on four sturdy
paws.
You are free and will always be loved.
Running through the woods, tail wagging, sniffing with excitement, finding
that ball like a needle in a haystack. So proud and happy.
Let's do it again and again, till we're just so tired out, that we sleep that
peaceful sleep where we can meet in our dreams, and play again, like we
used to.

We miss the happy, squeaky noises
You made each time we came home
We miss your grunts and snores and sighs
As you slept and slept and slept,
We miss the high pitched hum
You made when you really wanted
To taste what we were eating,
We miss the way your tail made little circles
When you ran through the woods,
We miss the click,click, click of your nails
On the floors when you came to find us,
We miss your devotion to
All things smelly and stinky...
Yuk! D-r-o-p--i-t!
